Oh Hey, December! (Some Inspiration)

live

Can you believe it’s December, already? Me neither! Seriously, this year has flown. It only feels like yesterday that I was in my PJ’s, standing on arm of the couch to put the star on top of the Christmas tree. But that was a whole year ago. And yet, over the weekend that Christmas tree was resurrected again and the decorations shine and glisten as they get caught by the sunlight.

I’d love to say that I’ll be celebrating this new month and season with a mug of hot cocoa, biscuits and the warmth of a heater, but I live in Australia. So, it’s smoothies and fruit and sunshine for me! In fact, today it’s supposed to get to 37 degrees (100 fahrenheit).

In the spirit of this new month and beautiful season, Summer, here’s a collection of some inspiration hits for the month. Enjoy it! Whatever the weather or season you find yourself in, I hope you truly live, seize the opportunities, celebrate your loved ones, extend a hand of kindness, and savour it’s beauty x

I’m a big fan of stunning Instagram images, but it’s the images paired with a story that captivate my heart. These accounts are brilliant, in the image and the caption.

Screen shot 2013-12-02 at 11.56.45 AM[source] caption: “The artistry of our Creator astounds me. And at the end of a long day that’s what it all comes down to. He is God. He paints in the sand and sculpts my life out of clay. And holy wow, can He paint.

Branden Harvey : @brandenharvey

Screen shot 2013-12-02 at 11.18.07 AM[source] caption: “On average, each of us will get the the opportunity to walk this earth for 25567 days. You and I have all been around for a few thousand of these days already. Within those days, we often get stuck in seasons of waiting. We get preoccupied thinking that life will start when things get better. We tell ourselves: Everything will be better when I get married. I can pursue my dream when I graduate from college. Life will start when I land that opportunity. I’ll be able to feel better once I’m recognized for what I’ve done. I can get to work once I know what my purpose is. I’ve been there. I’ve struggled with all those things. // But here’s the truth: The big things of life— the new job, falling in love, graduating, finding that meaning— they’re few and far between. Those aren’t the things that define our lives. We’re living life right now and we’re only promised today. If we wait for life to happen, we’ll miss out on actually living those 25567 days. Let’s be people that step into our days with purpose, boldly using the opportunities we’ve been given to impact the lives of those around us.

Writing Naked, by Billy Coffey // a must-read for any writer

“Don’t simply tell me that faith saves you, tell me how it almost failed you, too. Don’t tell me about love, speak of your passion. Don’t tell me you’re hurt, let me see your heart breaking. I don’t want to see your talent on the page, I want to see your blood. Dare to be naked before your readers. Because that is writing, and everything else is worthless crap.” – advice from Coffey’s teacher
